Description

A Silver color metal and enamel device consisting of a shield blazoned:  Per bend Argent and Gules, in chief a Malayan bear’s head affronté erased Proper and in base the Burmese insignia of six stars of the first.  Attached below and to the sides of the shield a Silver scroll inscribed “EARNEST ENDEAVOR” in Black letters.

Symbolism

The colors red and white (silver) are for Engineers.  The Burmese stars indicate one battle honor awarded the organization for service in that area, while the Malayan bear, indigenous to Burma and the Malay Peninsula, represents the other battle honor.

Background

The distinctive unit insignia was approved on 6 May 1952.
