Description
A metal and enamel device consisting of a silver color metal crescent surmounted by a gold color metal double-headed axe, the handle couped in base. Below the device a red scroll inscribed “THAT THEY MAY FIGHT” in silver color metal letters.
Symbolism
The crescent alludes to the Battalion’s service in Tunisia. The double-headed axe expresses the Engineers’ dual function of construction and combat, and at the same time represents the unit’s battle service in Italy.
Background
The distinctive unit insignia was approved on 18 January 1967.
