Symbolism
Scarlet and white are for Engineers; blue is for Infantry. The wide white (silver) band and the narrow blue band stand for the two-fold mission of the Battalion, i.e., to support by means of engineer work and to perform infantry combat missions when required. The term “potenté” signifies a crutch, (i.e., a support).
Background
The distinctive unit insignia was approved on 30 April 1963. It was rescinded on 23 February 1980.
