Description

A Silver color metal and enamel device consisting of a shield blazoned:  Gules, issuant from base, Pike’s Peak Proper, a border Argent.  Attached below and to the sides of the shield a Silver scroll inscribed “DEDICATED AND DETERMINED” in Black letters.

Symbolism

The use of the shield of the coat of arms approved for the 49th Engineer Regiment, difference by a border, indicates the descent of the Battalion from the 2d Battalion of that organization.  Scarlet and white are the colors used for the Corps of Engineers.  The representation of Pike’s Peak alludes to Camp Carson, Colorado, where the 49th Engineer Regiment was activated.

Background

The distinctive unit insignia was approved on 12 September 1955.
