Description
A gold color metal and enamel device consisting of a black tower with three merlons issuing from within a scarlet spade iron and all surmounted by a white chevron bearing a scarlet fleur-de-lis.
Symbolism
Scarlet and white are the colors used for Engineers. The heraldic tower together with the spade iron symbolizes military engineering and construction, the basic mission of the organization. The fleur-de-lis alludes to the unit’s activation and service in France during World War II.
Background
The distinctive unit insignia was approved on 16 December 1970.
