Symbolism

The blue shield represents Infantry, with the fasces symbolizing France. The supporting lions of Great Britain and Belgium, rendered in gold, flank the fasces. The motto translates to "By Valor, Not By Words."

Background

The distinctive unit insignia was originally approved for the 108th Infantry Regiment on April 29, 1925. It was amended to remove the motto on October 1, 1925.
