I-370 MD Metric (Maryland) (Road Sign) Sticker: Design Description

This sticker design cleverly plays on the visual language of Interstate highway signage, while simultaneously acknowledging a playful impossibility. At its heart, the design features a stylized Interstate 370 shield, the iconic symbol of the American Interstate Highway System.

The Classic Interstate Shield

The central element is the classic Interstate shield. The top banner, in a bold red, proudly displays "INTERSTATE" in crisp white lettering. This immediately establishes the nature of the route. Below, a central blue field houses the numeral "370," rendered in a clean, easily readable white font. This immediately identifies the specific highway in question, Interstate 370.

Maryland's Imprint

While the standard Interstate shield design is universal, this particular version is subtly personalized for Maryland. While not always included on actual road signs, the design could feature the state name "MARYLAND" at the bottom of the shield, solidifying its location. The optional directional banner would typically appear in white and indicate EAST or WEST, to identify the direction that the sign is intended for.

The Metric Twist - A Playful Irony

The core of the design's unique character lies in the "Metric" designation. Because metric signage is not used on any interstates except I-19 in Arizona, the "Metric" is added to the product title as a playful irony as a metric I-370 road sign could not exist in Maryland. This detail acknowledges that Maryland, like the rest of the U.S., uses miles, but the design cleverly embraces the concept of what such a sign would look like. It playfully juxtaposes the established visual identity of Interstate signage with a metric designation that would never exist.
